Do Cats Worry About Their Pension?

Please! We felines have found better ways to cope with life’s existential challenges. Many of us have a two-legged mammal at our service who’s trained to open food cans and buy more. Why, then, worry about ensuring supplies?

Humans seem to have a concept of trading time for money, which they call work. Do you really think any self-respecting cat would subscribe to that? When we could be licking our paws and looking out of the window instead? Nope!

Granted, there are these rare cases where a cat does enter actual employment. Take my ginger colleague Jonesy, for example, who decades ago was forced to act in that horrendous “Alien” film. It was his hissing reaction when the evil Xenomorph attacked a fellow crew member that made him the star of the show. And a fan favorite as well.

You might think that, after enduring that level of workplace stress, the poor tabby would be entitled to a substantial cash payout. Well, no! Admittedly, Jonesy would probably have knocked it off the table anyway. Or shredded it for bedding.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, my mammal is behind schedule with the evening meal. The service here requires occasional monitoring.
