Following Their Instincts

Street Cat, Cádiz, Andalucia, Spain

When they are hungry, they hunt. When they are tired, they sleep. When they have energy, they play.

Cats seem to embody an existence of total independence, unencumbered by anything other than their instincts. It’s hard to imagine that cats think about whether they are living up to someone else’s expectations. Rather, they seem to follow their natural inclinations without guilt or hesitation.

Does a cat care if their neighbor’s feline friend has a bigger food bowl than they do? Do cats let horror stories stop them from climbing Christmas trees?
