No Career Ladder

Cat Lindo in our Garden, Andalucia, Spain.

Should we be worrying about our pensions? Well...Why should we, as long as our house-trained mammals are capable of using the tin-opener and stocking up on provisions?

No cat in their right mind would ever consider a concept such as human work-life. If you can reach a proper vantage point with a single, effortless leap, the idea of climbing the career ladder in the corporate world becomes rather nonsensical.

Gainful Employment?

Admittedly, there are a few cases of cats who didn’t manage to avoid gainful employment altogether. Take my ginger colleagues, for example, who found themselves cast in that sci-fi thriller “Alien” decades ago. Were they all overachievers, then?

Reportedly, no fewer than four identical-looking ones were needed to bring the Jonesy character to life. For the hissing scene with the deadly Xenomorph, the crew even had to wheel out a German Shepherd to scare the poor kittie and provoke the desired response. Jonesy became one of the only two survivors of that hair-rising tale and supposedly “one of the most beloved cats in horror cinema.” A book was even written about him.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, my resident mammal is dragging their heels with the evening tea. The staff around here do require the occasional sharp look...me-ooow...!
